George was the eldest child of Edward and Sarah, and he had 8 younger brothers and sisters, he was born in 1892 (2nd Quarter) in Winterbourne and was Baptised at Winterbourne Down Church on 22 May 1892. George married Elsie Mary Bressington in 2nd Quarter of 1914. Elsie Bressington (born 1891) was born and lived in the Staple Hill area. After the war Elsie married a James Bennett in March 1920.

George served with the 12th Battalion, Glosters and was Killed in Action on 27 October 1916.

George Mann is commemorated on the memorial in the All Saints churchyard in Winterbourne Down, Downend Christ Church Memorial and the Staple Hill Page Park Memorial.
