Ernest's grandparents George and Elizabeth Nott, lived in Cann Lane from 1871, and by the time of the 1911 Census, Ernest's parents were living there with their seven children. Elizabeth Nott then a widow, was the head of the household and the only other occupant. Ernest was born in 1898 (3rd Quarter) and baptised in Warmley, Bristol.
Ernest served with the 1st Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers and was reported missing from the 21st March 1918 assumed Killed in Action.
