Harold joined the Royal Artillery in 1925 and married Alice Gertrude Draper in 1928. In 1939 two of Harold's children were living at home and the youngest would have been aged 11 when Harold died in 1941. Harold's death was registered in Bristol as he died from accidental suffocation whilst in his cabin on board ship in Avonmouth docks.
