Harold’s parents came from the Bristol area (Stapleton and Kingsdown respectively) and married in Montpelier in 1885. Their first son George Albert was born in the Bristol area in 1887 and his parents moved to West Ham not long after. George senor was a cook to the Atlantic Transport Line. Shortly after 1915, Harold’s parents moved to Newton, a short distance from Rockhampton. This address is confirmed on Harold’s pension card and the card for his brother Percy Charles Tiley who survived the war. In 1915, Harold joined the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners (East Ham branch).
Harold served with the 32nd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers and died 19-22 September 1917 (Missing assumed Killed in Action).
