Further information:
Henry was born in 1877 3rd Quarter – Baptised 26/08/1877 Bridstow, Herefordshire. Although his Christian name was Henry, he was probably known as Harry as most of his military records are recorded as Harry. Henry married Sarah Doneat Chester Registry Office on 29/01/1901. Harry and Sarah's children were – Henry Reginald, born 3.1.1902 (Crewe) and William Harold Pye, born 27/06/1908 (North Allerton). After the war, Sarah moved away from Wick, to Manchester and then to Liverpool.
On the 1911 Census, Henry (Harry) lived in Dilwyn, Herefordshire with his wife and two children. His occupation was given as a Horse Breaker. It appears that he moved about quite a bit and had only lived in Wick for a short while before enlisting in 1915.
Henry (Harry) served with the Army Service Corps (attached 126th Brigade Royal Field Artillery) and Died of Wounds 3/9/18 at 42nd Casualty Clearing Station.
Henry (Harry) is commemorated on the St Bartholomew's Church Memorial, Wick and the Wick Tabernacle United Reformed Church Memorial.
