Jack had an older sister Gwendoline and his father worked as a publican dying when Jack was 17. Jack was based at Number 13 Elementary Flying Training School and he died as a result of an accident during training along with Leading Aircraftsman Driscoll when the Tiger Moth II N9450 biplane that they were flying, dived and crashed into the ground at Shiplake Oxfordshire.
