Further information:

Jacob was the only son of a mason and the youngest child of 6. He married Blanche Elizabeth Blackmore in the Spring of 1935.

Jacob’s battalion were involved with heavy fighting around Tobruk in North Africa around the time of his death. He was not however reported as having been wounded in action, but on 21st April 1942 he was registered as dangerously ill and he died a month later. It is possible that he died of an infection as these were rife in the Middle East and he was initially buried at El Quantara which was the site of a military hospital.
