James Charles Rogers was born in 1893 in Frampton Cotterell. His parents were Charles and Annie Rogers and they lived at Watley Road in Winterbourne. His siblings were Louisa, Bertha, Elsie, Bessie, Kate and Helen. Their father worked as a navvy and he was born in Frampton Cotterell.

Charles was a boarder in Clifton in 1911 and he was a milk deliverer.

Charles enlisted in Bristol and joined the 1st Battalion of the Gloucestershire Regiment and he became a corporal. He was Killed in Action on 29 October 1914 at the age of 21.

Charles James Rogers is remembered on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. Ref. Panel 22 and 34. in Belgium. He is also remembered on the Frampton Cotterell St Peter’s Church War Memorial and the Chipping Sodbury and District War Memorial Cottage Hospital board, now at Yate and District Heritage Centre, under Frampton Cotterell.
