Leonard George Holder was born in 1895 in Frampton Cotterell to parents, Edward and Elizabeth Ann Holder (nee Davis). He was brother to Wilfred and Harold and his father worked as a coalminer and was born in Frampton Cotterell

Leonard served with the 7th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry as a private and was Killed in Action on the 13th June 1916 at the age of 20 years

Leonard is buried at the Vlamertinghe Military Cemetery, Ypres, Belgium (Ref 111. B, 1). He was awarded the 1914-15 Star and the British War and Victory medals

Leonard George Holder is also remembered on the Frampton Cotterell St Peter’s Church War Memorial and the Chipping Sodbury and District War Memorial Cottage Hospital board, now at Yate and District Heritage Centre, under Frampton Cotterell
