Leslie married Queenie Aline Roberts of West Hagbourne, Berkshire in Southampton 1940. His brother Harold died in Italy eleven days later. His father was a carpenter.

Leslie served with the 44th (7th Battalion, The Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment), Reconnaissance Corps and died on 6 February 1944.
