Marcus was born in 1889 (4th Quarter) in Horfield, Bristol. He married Selina Allen in 1915 (2nd Quarter) in Bridgewater. Marcus and Selina did not have any children. After the war Selina married a George A Mercer in 1919 (Bath).
Marcus enlisted in Bridgewater in November 1914. Marcus not recorded on the 1911 census that I could find, but there was a James Pike working as a farm labourer in Magor, Nr. Newport, S. Wales who was the right age and born in Bristol.
Marcus served with the 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards and was Killed in Action on 6/10/1915.
Marcus is commemorated on the Christ Church Downend Memorial and the Staple Hill (Page Park) Memorial. He is also commemorated on the St Marys Church Memorial in Bridgwater Somerset.
