Percy Buckley was born in 1898 in either Frampton Cotterell or Coalpit Heath. His parents were Charles and Louisa Buckley who lived at Watley's End in Winterbourne. His siblings were William, Florence, Alice, George, Frederick and Stanley. He may have had more siblings younger than him. His father was a coal miner (engine cleaner) and he had been born in Frampton Cotterell
Percy enlisted in Bristol and became a private in the 2nd Battalion of the Manchester Regiment. He died in February 1918 at the age of 20 and is buried in Artillery Wood Cemetery in Belgium
