Percy Jones was born in 1892 in Winterbourne. His parents were Philip and Elizabeth Jones of Watley’s End in Winterbourne. His siblings were Sabina, Daniel, Fred, Ethel and Florence. He may have more siblings younger than himself. His mother had been born in Winterbourne and she worked as a tailoress.

Percy joined the 10th Battalion of the South Wales Borderers as a private. Percy was Killed in Action on 16 April 1916 at the age of 24. He is buried in Rue-Du-Bacquerot (13th London) Graveyard in France.
