Raymond’s squadron was stationed at RAF North Killingholme in Lincolnshire. On the day of his death Raymond’s crew was taking part in a night bombing raid of Brunswick in Germany when their Lancaster bomber was shot down by a German night fighter. Raymond and 5 other crew members were killed and 1 crew member was taken POW.
