Further information:
Reginald was born in Sherston, the son of a small holder and the eldest of four children with two sisters and a brother. Reginald married Beatrice Louise Dorcan Diment, a farmer's daughter, at Tortworth in 1935 whilst he was serving as a Lance Corporal in the Royal Tank Corps and stationed at Andover.
Reginald served with "A" Squadron, 1st King's Dragoon Guards. Royal Armoured Corps.
Shortly before his death, Reginald would have been involved with fighting on the Gustav line, in Abruzzo Central Italy. He was captured and probably held at Sulmona Prisoner of War Camp and his records state that he died, whilst a prisoner in German hands. The cause of his death is not known but the cemetery where he is buried contains the graves of a number of escaped prisoners of war who died while trying to reach the Allied lines.
