Further information:

Robert was born in 1895 3rd Quarter- Baptised St James Church, Abson – 18/08/1895.

No entry could be found on the 1911 Census, but as the WW1 pension card gave Highfield Farm as the address of his mother, the family had probably lived there since at least the 1901 Census. Robert's father was a farmer, and he died in 1934, the address at that time being Beach Farm, Wick. His mother still lived at Beach Farm in 1939 and Robert's brother Albert was then running the farm.

Robert served with the 12th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment and was Killed in Action on 31 August 1918.
