Son of a traveling salesman Ronald was the middle child of 5 with an older and younger brother and an older and younger sister.
In December 1941, The Royal Dragoons joined the Eighth Army, the Black Rats, in the Western Desert, advancing with it into Benghazi. The Dragoons were the first troops to enter the city on Christmas Day, 1941. Ronald was reported as missing presumed killed.
