He attended Chipping Sodbury High School from 1933 to 1938 and died 6 months after getting married. He married Myfanwy Joan Tovey in the 3rd quarter of 1943 in Chipping Sodbury.

The Wellington Bomber in which he was flying was shot down by the Luftwaffe over Breca in former Yugoslavia. Only one crew member survived who was taken as a POW.
