Sidney Charles Russell was born in Badminton in 1897 to mother, Emily Russell, brother to Elijah, Amy and William.

Sidney served with the 7th Battalion, Princess Charlotte of Wales's Royal Berkshire Regiment and Died of Wounds on the 9th April 1917 aged 19 years. He is buried in the Doiran Military Cemetery, Salonika, Greece.

Sidney Russell is remembered on the Badminton Memorial board in the Village Hall and on the Chipping Sodbury and District War Memorial Cottage Hospital board, now at Yate and District Heritage Centre.
