Stephen George Carter was one of four brothers to serve in the war
Stephen fought at Gallipoli in 1915 before serving with the 8th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment and fighting at Ypres in 1917. He went over the top on 20 September 1917 and was reported as ‘wounded and missing’. Three months later, the army confirmed that he had in fact been killed in action on this date
Steven George Carter is remembered on the Chipping Sodbury and District War Memorial Cottage Hospital board, now at Yate and District Heritage Centre under Hawkesbury
