Further information:

Sydney was the son of a farmer and the second youngest of 9 children. He was born in Cardigan but was residing in London at the time of his death. His death was registered in Willesden, Middlesex. Sydney's army records state simply that he died, not from wounds or an accident. It is possible therefore, that his death was due to an illness unrelated to his war service.
