Thomas served with the 8th Battalion Princess Charlotte of Wales's (Royal Berkshire) Regiment and previously Private 31516 in the Worcestershire Regiment. He was Killed in Action on 28 December 1916 in Bazentine-le-Petit, France age 27.

Has no known grave but is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
