Tim's regiment were serving as part of the British Expeditionary Force when he was killed in action near St Maur by Tournai, Belgium. He was originally buried at Ere in Belgium and later reburied at Esquelmes.
Tim was described as "a small figure full of energy and the joy of living, and overflowing with kindliness and good humour."
