Victor Albert Ernest Warwick was born in 1883 in Beckingham in Kent. His parents were William and Rose Warwick (nee Bray). His siblings were William, Augustus, Archibald, Llewelyn and Robert. Their father had worked as a gardener and he had been born in Wallingford in Berkshire.
Victor was working in the telegraph office in 1901. He enlisted in London in 1908 and served in India. Victor married Mabel Parker in March 1916 and they lived in Frampton Cotterell.
Victor fought with the 3rd Garrison Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers as a Lance Corporal. He was wounded in France in 1915. He died in May 1916 at the age of 33. He is buried in Bishopwearmouth Cemetery, Sunderland (Ref: 2. AE. 1404). Victor is remembered on the St Peter’s Church war memorial in Frampton Cotterell and on the Chipping Sodbury Cottage Hospital memorial board (now in Yate Heritage Centre). He was awarded the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals.
