William George Tuck was born in 1895, the son of George and Annie Tuck. William was a farm labourer when he chose to enlist into the Royal Marines in January 1913. Following the outbreak of war, William was posted to HMS Monmouth. The Monmouth was ordered to sail for the Falklands to join the South American Station. On 1st November 1914, The Monmouth was sunk by the more powerful German Pacific fleet off Coronel on the Chilean coast, with the loss of all hands
William George Tuck is remembered on the Chipping Sodbury War Memorial Cottage Hospital board, now at Yate and District Heritage Centre under Hawkesbury
