Further information:
Williams mother was single when she gave birth to both William and his older brother Arthur.
On the 1891 Census, Hannah was a housekeeper for her uncle in Wick and a William Harris was a boarder in the house. Hannah married William Harris in 1892, but on the census records, continue to show Arthur and William with the surname Pullin, so William Harris may or may not have been the father.
William originally enlisted in the Gloucestershire regiment in November 1915 (Service No. 25454) but he was discharged in March 1916 due to fitness issues, even though his conduct had been very good. He was called up (or re-enlisted) in the Labour Corps in June 1917 and served in France with the 11th and 15th Corps schools of instruction.
William died on 16/02/1919 at home (Wick) from influenza and Pneumonia.
William is commemorated on the St Bartholomew Church Memorial. Wick and the Wick Tabernacle United Reformed Church Memorial.
