Coalpit Heath - St Saviour's Church
A stone memorial cross of Portland stone is sited within the churchyard of St Saviour’s Church, Coalpit Heath, BS36 2RP. The 15’ high memorial stands on a square plinth with 3 steps, raised on a mound edged with local pennant sandstone. The inscription on the lower east face of the plinth is “REMEMBER WITH PRAYER AND GRATITUDE THE MEN WHO FELL IN THE WARS 1914 – 1918 1939 – 1945 ESPECIALLY THOSE OF THIS PARISH GRANT THEM O LORD ETERNAL PEACE”
The framed war memorial from Manor School C of E Primary School is now kept at the church.
