George was killed in action and died at sea and was originally reported as missing in action. The circumstances around his death are not known, however the status of 'missing' was not officially changed to presumed killed in action until an astonishing 2 years and 5 months later and after the war was over.
George died on 19th September 1943 (not 18/9 as on Memorial).
