Broadband rollout update: March 18
To date, working with our partner, BT Openreach, we’ve made significant progress in bringing faster broadband to more and more parts of South Gloucestershire, with over 20,000 homes and businesses now able to access superfast fibre broadband. However, with an infrastructure project of this size and complexity, we will inevitably sometimes experience unforeseen setbacks and delays. Unfortunately, over the last few months we’ve seen issues conflate which are resulting in delays to the deployment across a number of areas.
Specifically, Openreach engineers have encountered severely blocked ducting, land subsidence and a number of wayleave issues, restricting their access to work and resulting in escalated costs and delays to the programme of work.
As a result, the work to install fibre to a number of cabinets/structures is currently on hold whilst we work with Openreach to identify solutions to these issues. The list of affected cabinets/structures follows below.
