Unsung heroes from across South Gloucestershire have been presented with a Chair’s Community Award to celebrate the selfless and valuable contributions they make as unpaid volunteers.
The annual awards are held by South Gloucestershire Council to recognise and thank local volunteers who willingly give up their time to help others and bring communities together.
Chair of South Gloucestershire Council, councillor Katie Cooper, recently presented the awards at a special ceremony along with David Withey, the CEO & Principal of South Gloucestershire and Stroud (SGS) College.
This year’s event was once again hosted and sponsored by SGS College, providing an opportunity for people to come together and celebrate the crucial role of volunteering across the district.
A diverse group of award recipients were honoured, with contributions ranging from community wellbeing initiatives and youth support, to environmental projects and advocacy services. Despite their varied backgrounds, all recipients demonstrated outstanding commitment and a willingness to help others without expecting anything in return.
Councillor Katie Cooper, Chair of South Gloucestershire Council, said: “It is a privilege to recognise the remarkable people who contribute so much to our communities. Their kindness, energy and commitment bring genuine benefit to residents across South Gloucestershire, often without seeking any recognition in return. Their actions make a hugely positive and lasting difference to the lives of residents, and I want to thank each of them for their kindness and selfless contributions.”
