South Gloucestershire Council and Staple Hill & Mangotsfield Parish Council have announced the development of a Place Shaping Plan for Staple Hill High Street.

This initiative aims to create a vibrant, welcoming, and resilient high street – shaped by the ideas, needs, and priorities of the local community.

Since 2021, the council has worked closely with residents, businesses, and stakeholders to gather feedback and deliver early improvements. These include grants for greening, revitalising vacant units and shopfronts, new wayfinding signage, graffiti removal, and the installation of public murals. Building on this, the council has developed some ideas and now wants to ensure they still reflect what matters most to the community.

Once the Place Shaping Plan is in place, it will help identify funding and partners to deliver the projects in the future.

Councillor Sean Rhodes, South Gloucestershire Council’s cabinet member for communities and local place, said: “We’re inviting the Staple Hill community – residents, businesses, and key stakeholders to help shape the future of the high street. We want local people to give us their ideas and suggestions to help make sure our plans mirror the needs of the local community.
“You can explore the current ideas and share your thoughts from now until Sunday 14 December through our dedicated webpage www.southglos.gov.uk/staple-hill-place-shaping.”

The feedback received will directly inform the council’s final Place Shaping Plan, which will be published in spring 2026. The plan will include design proposals and recommendations to guide future improvements and help attract funding and delivery partners.
