Further information:

Cuthbert served in the 2nd Battalion, Herefordshire Regt, King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. Private 14808349 or 1480839 records differ.

Cuthbert’s Battalion crossed the Rhine on 29th March 1945 and fought its way across the Dortmund-Ems canal towards Bremen. It was during this battle that Cuthbert died and was initially buried in Ibbenburen in Germany.

Please note that some sources incorrectly put Cuthbert in 1st Battalion as in 1945 that Battalion was in the Middle East whilst the 2nd was in Europe.
