Frederick’s battalion (the 10th) fought in the Burma Campaign under the command of the Fourteenth Army. In January 1945 they crossed the Irrawaddy River and were involved in extremely fierce fighting. Frederick was killed during this fighting but the battalion’s victory led to the final operation that broke the last Japanese resistance in Burma.
