In the 1901 census John was working as a servant for William R C Isaac who was a farmer in Lower Stone. In the 1911 census he was in the 1st Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry in India.
John is also remembered on the Berkeley War Memorial.
John was Killed in Action on 25/09/1915.
