Wilfred Isaac Walker was born in 1887 in Old Sodbury to parents James and Elizabeth Walker of Codrington and brother to George, John, Francis, Ernest and Harriet. The family lived in Codrington and James Walker worked as a road labourer, he had been born in Old Sodbury
Wilfred served first with the Somerset Light Infantry as private 21895 and then with 7th Battalion of the Queens Royal West Surrey Regiment also as a private
Wilfred died on the 19th August 1918 at the age of 31. He was awarded the British and Victory Medals. He is remembered on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial, France
Wilfred Isaac Walker is also remembered on the Wapley Cross War Memorial and the Chipping Sodbury and District War Memorial Cottage Hospital board now at Yate and District Heritage Centre, under Wapley
