William’s father was a boot cutter and William, the youngest child in the family. William married Edith Emily Roberts at some time in the 1920s and he enlisted in the RAF in 1942.
On the day of his death William was on board Lancaster PD383 as one of 20 passengers and 7 crew on their way home from Italy to England. Somewhere along the route the plane disappeared for reasons unknown, reportedly breaking up and landing in the Tyrrenhian Sea off Corsica. There were no survivors.
