Phase 3 programme: Improving broadband speeds
Together with our partner, BT Openreach, we’ve so far provided superfast broadband access to more than 98% of households and businesses. But there’s further to go.
We have therefore secured funding for a third phase of work which will bring ultrafast and Next Generation Access broadband to even more homes and businesses in South Gloucestershire. Following is our blog in which we’ll keep you updated on the progress of the programme.

More financial help for rural homes and businesses to get top-of-the-range broadband speeds
At the weekend (12 September 2020), the government announced that more than £22 million of additional funding is being invested into the broadband voucher scheme, which subsidises the costs of building gigabit-capable broadband networks to hard-to-reach areas.

Superfast Broadband Phase 3A and Phase 3B
The Phase 3 Superfast Broadband Project completed on 31 March 2020. More than 2,300 premises across South Gloucestershire now have access to superfast fibre broadband as a result of the Phase 3 Project, which will now be known as Phase 3A.

Universal Service Obligation (USO) now live
The Better Broadband Voucher Scheme is now closed. On 20 March 2020 Ofcom launched the broadband Universal Service Obligation to be delivered by BT and KCOM. Further details are available on the Ofcom website.
October 2019 update
Phase 3 fibre broadband deployment across South Gloucestershire continues to make good progress, with a number of areas now able to access superfast fibre broadband as a result of the project. Openreach will continue with the work over the coming months, with Phase 3 deployment due to complete in June 2020.
