South Gloucestershire Council, Bristol City Council and North Somerset Council, with Barnardo’s, are excited to launch their very first joint Infant Feeding Celebration Week later this month.
From Monday 24 to Sunday 30 November 2025, the new initiative recognises the incredible efforts and dedication of the networks who support families throughout their infant feeding experience.
With the theme ‘It Takes a Village’ the week will shine a spotlight on the essential role played by health professionals, volunteers, family and friends, celebrating every feeding journey and those who make a difference across South Gloucestershire, Bristol and North Somerset.
Thanks to Lounge café bars, celebration events will be held on Tuesday 25 November, 9.30-11.30am at three Lounges across the area: Miro Lounge in Bristol, Teatro Lounge in Clevedon, and Barranco Lounge in South Gloucestershire.
The events are open to everyone at any stage of the infant feeding journey, providing an opportunity to meet other families, get feeding information and support, find out about other events in your area, and enjoy a free hot drink with every cake order.
Councillor Alison Evans, South Gloucestershire Council’s Cabinet Member responsible for Public Health, said: “We’re proud to be part of this joint initiative that recognises the power of community in supporting infant feeding. It’s very rewarding to see families supported not just by services, but by their wider village.
“This week is about celebrating those connections and reminding everyone that help is always available.”
Councillor Katja Hornchen, Vice-Chair of Bristol City Council’s Children and Young People Committee, said: “Infant Feeding Celebration Week recognises the many people who help families with infant feeding.
“Being a parent is a personal experience, and for many, the support of health professionals, neighbours, family and friends makes a real difference. In Bristol, we’re proud of the support available through our Family Hubs and across the wider partnership.”
Councillor Jenna Ho Marris, North Somerset Council’s Cabinet Member for Homes and Health, said: “As a mum myself, I know first-hand the joy and challenges that come with feeding an infant.
“It’s so important to find your village, and these events are an exciting opportunity to connect with others, share experiences, and discover the help that’s out there when you need it most.”
Ellie Gould, Regional Community Manager for The Lounges, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the inaugural Infant Feeding Celebration Week. It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring families together, help them connect with their local support networks, and celebrate the importance of community in every stage of parenthood.”
Every feeding journey is different and support comes from a wide range of different people and networks. Anyone who would like to thank a friend, family member or somebody else in their support village can pick up a thank you postcard at one of the celebration events.
