South Gloucestershire Council is delighted to announce the official launch of the Coronation Centre in Cadbury Heath. Formerly known as The Batch, the community centre has been refurbished and will serve as a vibrant community hub for local residents, offering a wide range of activities and services.
Following a competitive selection process, a brand new local Community Interest Company (CIC), led by residents, has been awarded a lease to manage the facility. The group will be led by Chair Dennis Stinchcombe MBE, who has over 40 years’ experience running community facilities. Other directors of the CIC include Jason and Kim Ball, Nick Phelps and councillor Edna Stinchcombe MBE, all long-term residents of Cadbury Heath that understand the community’s needs.
The CIC will help to ensure that the Coronation Centre will continue to serve as a vital space for the community. The Centre will offer a wide range of activities for residents, providing a welcoming space for community events, youth services, and local support initiatives.
Youth services will continue two nights a week, delivered by Creative Youth Network. The new CIC additionally hopes to welcome back Milestones Trust, which provides support to adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs, supporting its return to the building.
Councillor Sean Rhodes, South Gloucestershire Council’s cabinet member for communities, said: “We are thrilled to see the Coronation Centre reopen under the management of a passionate local community group and continue to serve as a vital hub for the Cadbury Heath community. The centre will be a fantastic asset for the area and represents our commitment to providing spaces where people of all ages can come together, access essential services, and participate in a variety of activities. We look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the community.”
Dennis Stinchcombe MBE, Chair of Coronation Centre CIC, said: “Our vision for the Coronation Centre is to create a thriving community hub where residents can come together, take part in activities, and access valuable services. We look forward to welcoming everyone and building something truly special for Cadbury Heath.”
