A free community festival is being held in South Gloucestershire this summer to celebrate diversity and to bring people of all backgrounds a chance to enjoy themselves together.
This year the Celebrate With Me festival will take place on 15 June and will be held in Kingswood Park for the first time, showcasing an uplifting programme of arts, food, wellbeing and family activities celebrating people and culture around the world.
The new location will give plenty of space for a wide variety of entertainment, diverse displays, demonstrations and workshops, musical performances, food stands, crafts and plenty of opportunities to get involved and have a go at different traditions and dancing.
The festival is part of South Gloucestershire and Bristol Refugee Festival and the Festival of Nature. It is organised by Movema dance charity and The Nest café in Staple Hill and is being supported by South Gloucestershire Council, Kingswood Town Council, SARI (Stand Against Racism and Inequality), South Gloucestershire Race Equality Network and the Kingswood Park project.
Penny Caffrey, director of Movema and festival producer, said: “We’re thrilled to bring our free community festival to Kingswood Park this year. With a vibrant programme of performances, arts, sports, and wellbeing activities, there’s something for everyone. It’s a fantastic opportunity to try something new, connect with others, and celebrate the diverse stories that make our community unique.”
Melody Beard, owner of the Bean Tree Café and festival producer, said: “We’ve had so many amazing moments at Celebrate With Me over the years in Staple Hill, and now we’re really excited to bring that same energy to Kingswood.
“I love seeing the mix of cultures, hearing different languages, and feeling the buzz. Residents return year after year, and we can’t wait to welcome both the local community and visitors to enjoy Kingswood Park.”
Councillor Alison Evans, cabinet member responsible for equalities at South Gloucestershire Council, said: “We are thrilled to once again be supporting this wonderful event which celebrates cultures from around the world and helps to make South Gloucestershire a welcome place for all.
“We are incredibly proud of the diversity we have in our area and of the contributions people from different backgrounds make to our community and economy. This event is a chance to celebrate the traditions and cultures of everyone who calls South Gloucestershire home.”
There is easy access by foot, bike or bus, and we encourage attendees to consider environmentally friendly transport where possible.
Everyone is welcome to the event in Kingswood Park on Saturday 15 June from 11am to 4pm.
