As of Saturday 7 December a Red weather warning remains in place and Storm Darragh is causing disruption across the region.
We have recorded wind speeds of up to 55mph from our weather stations. The advice from emergency services remains the same, essential travel only is advised.
In South Gloucestershire our StreetCare teams have dealt with 21 incidents through the night. At 11.45am Saturday 7 December this had increased to 33.
A fallen tree at Awkley Lane, Tockington has been cleared and the road reopened but a BT cable was taken down by the tree and BT are on their way to deal with this. Another tree in Canterbury Close, Yate is being dealt with by our tree surgeons.
We have flooding on:
- Cowship Lane, Cromhall
- Tytherington Road, Grovesend
These roads currently remain open but please heed the warning signs that are in place.
Thornbury SortIt centre is currently closed but this will be reviewed later this morning. All other SortIt centres are currently open.
Some of our libraries are currently closed:
- Bradley Stoke – closed (Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre is closed)
- Cadbury Heath – closed but aiming to open at 10am
- Downend – likely to open at 11am
- Emersons Green – likely to open at 10am
- Filton – closed
- Hanham* – likely to open at 11am
- Kingswood – open
- Patchway – open
- Staple Hill* – open
- Thornbury – open
- Winterbourne – open
- Yate – open
*Hanham and Staple Hill libraries are due to stay open in to the afternoon for community Christmas events and at present we expect this to still be the case.
