Residents of South Gloucestershire are encouraged to have their say on plans to improve the environment across the District by providing their views on the draft Green Infrastructure Strategy, ‘Greener Places’ which is open for public comment until Sunday 12 September 2021.

The strategy sets out our plans for improving the network of green spaces and water courses, including parks, nature reserves and other open spaces across South Gloucestershire. This includes introducing our plans to improve and create more habitat for nature, sustain high quality public open spaces and contribute to a green recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

With our partners and residents we want to strengthen our work together to achieve a shared vision for ‘greener places where people and nature thrive’ across our area.

Cabinet Member for Planning, Transport and the Strategic Environment, Cllr Steve Reade said: “I’d like to encourage all residents to have their say on our Greener Places Strategy as it sets out our ambitions and commitments regarding some of the defining issues of our time which affect our communities and environment. This strategy recognises that we all have a part to play in responding to the challenges of the changing climate and the nature crisis.

“We want to build on the fantastic work already taking place to create more habitat for nature and make our communities and public spaces greener, healthier places. Having a clear vision and plan for our green infrastructure is essential to create thriving and attractive, zero-carbon communities for people and nature, which also attract investment to drive a green and sustainable economy. The Greener Places Strategy sets out our priorities and plans for the next decade so it’s vital that people provide us with their feedback.”

The Greener Places Strategy has been prepared by South Gloucestershire Council, our partners and residents. Have your say at www.southglos.gov.uk/consultation.
