About the board
The planned new arrangements for South Gloucestershire are published today (25th June 2019) and the South Gloucestershire Children’s Partnership will replace the SGSCB at the end of September 2019.
The South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children Board (SGSCB) is the statutory multi-agency body established by South Gloucestershire Council in accordance with the Children Act 2004 and the statutory guidance set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015.
South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children Board have produced an Integrated Supervision Policy. This is because we consider that supervision is a key factor in better safeguarding.
It is intended to provide an overarching supervision policy framework for all staff working in multi agency organisations across South Gloucestershire children’s services, acknowledging that many of them have already existing and effective supervision processes in place. It is not intended to replace those but to reinforce them and to extend sound principles and good practice in all children’s services.
Further guidance for the SGSCB is set out in ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015: A guide to Inter-agency working to safeguard and promote the welfare of children’ . This outlines that the SGSCB has a range of roles and statutory functions including developing local safeguarding policies and procedures and scrutinising local arrangements.
