About the Partnership

The planned new arrangements for South Gloucestershire were published on 25th June 2019 and the South Gloucestershire Children’s Partnership formerly replaced the South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children Board on the 29th September 2019.

South Gloucestershire Children’s Partnership

The Children’s Partnership is the new statutory body in accordance with Working Together 2023.  The main changes are that there are now three organisations that have an equal and shared duty to make arrangements to work together with relevant agencies to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children in South Gloucestershire.

The structure of the partnership is explained here

Members of The Executive

The Executive meets quarterly and is comprised of the three statutory partners the local authority, the police and the clinical commissioning group.  The Head of Safeguarding for South Gloucestershire Council also attends as chair of the Senior Officers Group.

Local Authority: Director of Children, Adults and Health

ICB: Director of Nursing, BNSSG ICB

Police: Area Commander for South Gloucestershire, Avon & Somerset Police

Senior Officers Group

The Senior Officers Group (SOG) meets quarterly and is chaired by the Head of Safeguarding for South Gloucestershire Council and has a membership of the chairs of the work streams for the partnership and the business manager.  The work streams are chaired by the three statutory partners, and membership of each work stream is drawn from the wider workforce including community and voluntary representatives. There are three workstreams:

Best Start for Children with Complex Needs – chairing provided by the ICB

Best Start for Vulnerable Children – chairing provided by the Police

Best Start in Life – chairing provided by the Local Authority

The Stakeholder Network

Membership of the stakeholder network is drawn from former members of the Safeguarding Children Board and the Children, Young People and Families Partnership and their sub groups.  This forum meets twice a year and is chaired by the Executive.
